PTA

What We Do

The Arundel PTA exists to promote the welfare of its students and to drive programs that benefit our students and our school. Funds that support PTA activities are generated through parent-coordinated fundraising activities. A brief description of PTA programs is listed in the Programs section of this website. Please contact a Team Chair if you are interested in joining a team or have ideas, comments or questions.

Membership

Every Arundel parent should consider joining the PTA! Your dues help support programs and supplies for our students and teachers. Single membership is $10 and Family membership is $20. You can now sign up online.

Volunteering is Easy!

There are many ways to volunteer to be on a team. Back to School Night, Kindergarten events, PTA meetings, Room Reps and notices sent on the Arundel Knightly News offer opportunities for families to help with activities and projects. The teams are always in need of volunteers. If you think you’d like to do something but missed these opportunities, please call any Board Member or Team Chair (listed below) to learn about their activities and the kinds of help they might need.

Meetings

The PTA generally holds monthly meetings on the first Wednesday of the month, alternating between 8:45 A.M. and 7 P.M. meeting times. All parents are welcome to attend . whether or not you are a due-paying member of the PTA. It’s a great way to find out what’s happening at the school and get involved. Check the calendar or weekly Arundel Knightly News for specifics on the next meeting date or location.

PTA Structure

In addition to the PTA Board, there are teams that are responsible for various types of programs. Current teams include Communications, Student Services, Events/Fun, Fundraising, Community Services and Hospitality. Each year in the spring, announcements in the Tuesday Envelope and the Arundel Action solicit volunteers to take on chair positions, which include serving on the PTA Board. If you are interested in being a chairperson next year, come to PTA meetings to find out more and/or contact any of the current Board members.

PTA Fundraising

The PTA raises money to provide benefits and enhance programs for our children, including:

  • Art and science programs for the classroom
  • School Support
  • Study trips, enrichment assemblies and activity days
  • Hardware and software for the computer lab and classrooms
  • Library books and classroom materials
  • Enrichment curriculum in science and art
  • Life skills training and support
  • Teacher mini-grants
  • Grade level grants
  • Play equipment on the upper and lower playgrounds
  • Special events, e.g. Teacher Appreciation Week, Halloween Fun Day, Kindergarten Picnic, Science Nights, etc.

Where Funds Go

The yearly budget is created by the PTA Board and is presented in April for approval. Final approval is sought 30 days later by a vote of all PTA members present at the May meeting. The annual budget is available in the window of the school office at all times. Discussions regarding spending take place at the monthly PTA meetings. Please come and share your ideas about how best to allocate our resources to our students.
