Join our PTA Team!
The Arundel PTA is planning its board, committees, events and activities for the upcoming 2018/19 school year. Take on one of our many open roles and join a dynamic group of parents who are working together to make a difference at Arundel – in big and small ways. It matters!
We understand how busy life is these days but we need your help to ensure that our students and community can continue to enjoy programs and activities that enhance the school experience for our kids and their families. Many of our as-yet unfilled PTA roles are crucial to making things happen throughout the year.
Thank you for your consideration of an open PTA role. Please get in touch with our PTA Recruitment Team, Lindsay Byrnes (email@example.com) or Melissa Bilardello (firstname.lastname@example.org) if you have any questions or want to learn more about a role.
2018/2019 PTA Openings
Executive Board Roles
Volunteers at this level are expected to attend the majority of the board meetings and will have the opportunity to participate in important PTA planning and decision-making.
Auditor: Think Oscars when those CPAs come on the the stage in tuxedos and carrying briefcase… This position works closely with the Treasurer to audit the financials and present at the PTA meeting once a year. Role requires 5-6 hours twice a year.
VP Fundraiser: Are you a philanthropist at heart? Do you love spending your time raising critical funds for our school that support the many wonderful programs we offer? Then this is the job for you. This position oversees the chairs of the Fun Run, eScrip, Box Tops, and other fantastic and special Arundel fundraisers. On average, you will spend 1 hour per week on this role.
Board Committee Chair Roles
Volunteers at this level are expected to attend meetings less frequently than Executive Board roles. Committee Chairs typically coordinate the activities of other volunteers within the group.
Membership Chair: This is a great position for those who just want to get their feet wet! Your main job is getting the Arundel community to sign up for the PTA, attend the meetings, and pay their membership dues. This job is busiest at the beginning of the school year, and then tapers back to one hour per month.
Hospitality Chair: Is showing appreciation to volunteers and teachers something that you feel is important? If so, this is the ideal job for you! You will oversee all assigned PTA Hospitality roles (we can fill you in on all of your direct reports). This is a great way to connect with the Arundel teaching team/staff.
Community Outreach Chair: Is contributing to the community as a whole important to you, and are you interested in teaching our children about stewardship? This job would allow you to make a difference, and identify and oversee several community services roles that are integral to the fabric of what makes San Carlos such a welcoming place to live. This board role requires the least amount of “hands-on” supervision because many roles work directly with district liaisons.
Communications Chair/AKN Production: Want to contribute but you prefer to work on your own time schedule? Take on the Arundel Knightly News (AKN) production and keep the entire Arundel community informed weekly via the digital newsletter. Ideal if you have some tech experience, but can be easily trained to the next willing volunteer.
Student Services Chair: Do you like fun? Kids do! You will be in charge of all those special student events that make Arundel special. You will have a chair for each event so you’d largely delegate, communicate and consult. The time commitment for this job is roughly two hours per month.

Manage the collection of nominations, prepare a slide show presentation (template provided if needed), and present at the late May/early June event). Ideal candidate would have good organizational skills and feel comfortable presenting to a small crowd of peers. Great role to take on with a pal.
Teacher Appreciation Week (January-May): Work with a veteran volunteer to manage activities for Teacher Appreciation Week (typically first week of May). Planning starts in late winter/early Spring.
