Monday, 9/24: Last day to register on-line to get a T-shirt. Register NOW! 90 have registered so far so hurry and join the fun!

Wednesday, 9/26:  Sign up to help at Race/Carnival part of Fun Run. Take a shift NOW by clicking HERE! (You can do this any day before 10/5 but we’d like to know now if we have enough help!)

Tuesday, 10/2:  Last day for on-line registration . (T-shirt not guaranteed.)

Thursday, 10/4:  T-shirt packets distributed to kids at school

Friday, 10/5:  Arundel students wear Fun Run T-shirts to school

Monday, 10/15: Deadline to turn in pledge money, to determine prize winners.

Friday, 10/19: Prize winners will be announced (one per grade).

Wear your PJs, bring your sleeping bag and join your friends for a night of fun in the Arundel MU Room! This is a wonderful way for kids and parents to get to know their new classmates in a fun, relaxed setting.  Gather your friends and join the first movie night of the year.

This is a family fun event, parents please plan on staying with your children. Popcorn and water will be provided by the PTA. Feel free to bring snacks or dinner. Have a great time!

The Fun Run team is busy planning the biggest, the best and the only fun fundraiser for our school. There were detailed instructions regarding the event in your Back To School Packet that you recieved last week at Back to School night. Here is a recap:

1. All current students are free to attend; however, we ask that students obtain pledges for walking or running in the race.
2. All current students need to be registered online. Register HERE!
3. Register all family members who wish to participate for $25 each while registering the eldest current student. Registration includes t-shirt and carnival pass. Order lunch during online registration too!
4. Collect pledges. Pledges will represent almost 60% of our funds needed. We hope to raise at least $75 per student.
5. Have your business or family sponsor the event and recieve advertising on the back of our VERY famous and sought after Fun Run T-shirts. Contact Linda Wilkinson at linda_wilkinson AT sbcglobal DOT net
6. Clear out your kitchen and send the treasures to the MU stage for the dime toss.
7. Volunteer to help for the weekend of the event. Click this link

COME PLAY!!!

That’s right, the 5th annual Fun Run will be held on Sunday October 7 from 10am – 2pm on the upper playground of Arundel. The race will start at Arguello Park and the carnival is gearing up with some new games and added activities. You don’t want to miss this fun filled family school fundraising event!

Planning has already started. We will be posting a volunteer sign up link before school starts!

A reminder to parents that STAR testing continues this week until Thursday for grades 2-4.

I hope to see everyone at Heritage Night next Wednesday May 16 from 5-7:30 in the MUR.  This year we have many performers, and of course, all of the wonderful food!  Come help us celebrate the rich diversity of cultures we have at our school.

This year we have many amazing performers including: Steel Drummers, Latin Guitarists, and Las Aolelitas dancing. Among the crafts, we will be making tissue paper flowers in preparation for Arundel’s participation in the Hometown Days Parade!

The Hometown Days parade is next Saturday May 19th. This year’s theme is “32 Years of Hometown Cheers!” Join your friends and walk in the parade to show your Arundel pride. We will carry the tissue paper flowers that will be made at Heritage Night (May 16th 5pm-7:30pm).

We need a cheer leader to lead us in a cheer as we walk past the judges during the parade! Arundel is also hosting the golf game booth Sunday and we need volunteers to take 30 minute to 1 hour shifts.  We will have a sign up link on this website soon. Contact Monique Imbernon at moniqueimbernon AT att DOT net to help or for more information.

We hope you had a fun week during Turn Off the TV Week last week. Now it’s time to complete the activity log, found in your yellow packet, and turn it into the school office by this Friday, May 4. All students who turn in their forms will receive a special certificate delivered by Principal Paulson himself. Click here for a copy of the activity log.

From Monday,  April 23 through Friday, April 27, Arundel families are invited to join thousands of families across the country in taking a week off from television to enjoy other activities and interests. During Turn Off the TV Week, families pledge to spend five days with no TV.
