Emergency Procedures
Emergency preparedness is important at Arundel. In case of emergency, the following procedures will be put in place:
▪ Emergency Drills: Drills are conducted monthly. Children evacuate to the playgrounds.
▪ Other Emergencies: Lock down drills occur several times throughout the school year to prepare personnel and students for those emergencies where it is safer to stay in place.
▪ Releasing Students: In case of a declared emergency by the superintendent, all students are required to remain at school under the supervision of school personnel. Students will be released only to parents/guardians or to an adult whose name appears on the emergency release cards. Students may be picked up at the upper playground.
It is important that adults picking up children during a declared emergency follow the procedure above and leave the campus immediately to reduce confusion and leave access roads open for response vehicles. If it becomes necessary to evacuate the campus, Central Middle School is our designated meeting spot.
